Hi! I'm Rowan, a Scottish filmmaker with a love for editing. I’m driven by the beauty of storytelling and the power of film to create change. I’ve always been passionate about creating imaginative videos, and editing. My journey started in post-production, where I’ve developed my skills in editing, sound design, colour grading, and more, using tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and After Effects.
Over the past few years, I’ve worked on a range of projects that have crossed industries, companies, and creative styles – from fashion to food content, from short-form ads to intimate documentaries. While gaining experience across departments, including videography, photography, lighting and producing. I love adapting to new briefs, learning from each experience, and connecting with the people behind every story.
One of the projects I’m most proud of is my documentary, From My First Breath. It’s a personal, impactful piece about the missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two- spirit people in Canada. This project not only taught me about the importance of ethical storytelling but also sparked my interest in the ethical implications of documentary filmmaking. I then proceeded to wrote my first-class honours dissertation on the ethics of editing in documentaries—something that has really shaped the way I approach every project.
Whether I’m working on a product shoot or a documentary, I love immersing myself in the tone and identity of each project. I use that as creative inspiration, always aiming to reflect the heart of the story or brand in the final edit.
Outside of filmmaking, I’m deeply passionate about travel and sustainability. I love exploring new places – travelling has given me the chance to meet incredible people and experience different cultures. I’m also a beekeeper! Which has taught me the importance of caring for our environment. Sustainability is something I strive for in both my personal life and in my creative work.
These passions all shape the way I tell stories. Driving me to not only be creative but also make a positive impact where I can.
